In short: For English singer FKA Twigs, the word 'eusexua' captures a specific, euphoric peak. Born from her time in Prague and inspired by the spirit of East Bloc techno, her 2025 studio album explores a state of being so intense that the physical self seems to vanish.

The term 'eusexua' was coined by Twigs to describe a level of euphoria so profound that it allows one to transcend the human form. This concept served as the foundation for her third studio album, released on 24 January 2025. The project was heavily influenced by her relocation to Prague, where she developed a deep affinity for the atmosphere of techno warehouse raves. This creative period followed her 2019 album, Magdalene, and her 2022 mixtape, Caprisongs.

While the album's production incorporates the 'spirit' of techno, it is not strictly a techno record. Critics have noted a complex sonic landscape, with some describing a blend of house beats, delicate synths, and industrial tones, while others highlighted vocal similarities to artists like Björk and Kate Bush. The album's era was shaped by significant challenges, including the leak of 85 of her demos in October 2023, leading her to collaborate with the electronic duo Two Shell to rebuild the project from the ground up. The lead single, also titled 'Eusexua', debuted in September 2024, alongside other singles like 'Perfect Stranger' and 'Drums of Death'. The project's sonic texture was also shaped by the work of producer Koreless.

The era was marked by high-profile collaborations and immersive promotion. The track 'Childlike Things' features rapper North West performing in both English and Japanese. Beyond traditional releases, Twigs promoted the work through 'Eusexua raves' in cities including Los Angeles, New York, London, Glasgow, and Paris. The album's critical success was significant, earning a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album and receiving a weighted average score of 87 out of 100 on Metacritic. The album's success was reflected in its commercial performance, debuting at number 24 on the US Billboard 200. The musical journey even extended to a sequel, titled Eusexua: Afterglow, which arrived in late 2025.
