From a child's minibike to the pinnacle of Malaysian motorcycle racing
In short: Before he was a professional racer, Hakim Danish was a child inspired by his father's bike. His journey from the Malaysian dirt to the Moto3 World Championship podium is a masterclass in steady progression through the world's most demanding junior racing tiers.
Hakim Danish's trajectory is defined by a methodical climb through the international motorcycle racing pyramid. Born in 2007 in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia, he began his journey at age eight on minibikes. This early foundation allowed him to transition into national pocket bike and MiniGP categories, eventually earning a selection for the prestigious Asia Talent Cup at just 13 years old. His 2022 season was a turning point, where he secured seven podiums and four victories to become the first Malaysian to ever win the Asia Talent Cup title. The path to the world stage required balancing multiple high-level championships simultaneously.
Between 2021 and 2025, Danish competed across the European Talent Cup, the Italian MiniGP Championship, and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. These competitions served as the crucible for his technical development, where he faced elite competition from across the globe. His performance in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup was particularly notable; in 2025, he maintained a dominant start, finishing in second place for the first five rounds and leading the championship before a challenging second half of the season saw him secure a final third-place standing.
Danish's professional breakthrough arrived in 2026 with MSi Racing in the Moto3 World Championship. His maiden victory at the Czech Republic Grand Prix at Automotodrom Brno is a testament to his resilience. After starting from a twelve-place grid penalty, he navigated a high-stakes last-lap battle involving six riders. Hakim snatched a victory by exploiting a collision involving frontrunners Brian Uriarte and Maximo Quiles near the final turn, achieving the earliest Moto3 podium for a Malaysian since 2016. This milestone cements his status as a premier talent in the global racing circuit.
