The divergent paths of urban mobility in Singapore and Shanghai
In short: Explore the contrasting lives of taxi drivers in two of Asia's most prominent hubs. This documentary highlights how local culture and technological shifts shape the daily experiences of those navigating these cosmopolitan landscapes.
The film contrasts the 'Kampung Uncle' in Singapore, who offers a tour rooted in local identity, with Zhang Bo, a taxi driver in Shanghai. While the former represents a down-to-earth connection to the city's past, the latter navigates a high-tech present.
In Shanghai, Zhang Bo utilizes various first-class service gadgets to cater to a technophile population. His journey reflects the tension between maintaining personal service and meeting the demands of a rapidly modernizing, tech-driven urban environment.
