In short: The 72nd Miss World pageant signaled a major geographic shift for the competition. For the first time in its history, Thailand captured the crown, making it only the second Southeast Asian nation to ever win the title, following the Philippines in 2013.

The 2025 edition took place at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, India, on May 31. This marked the third time the pageant was hosted in India, following the 1996 and 2023 editions. The event featured a massive scale of participation, with contestants representing 108 different countries and territories. The ceremony was co-hosted by Stephanie Del Valle, Miss World 2016, and Sachiin Kumbhar, featuring performances by Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter.

The competition utilized a rigorous continent-based format to narrow down the field. A Top 40 was reached by participants representing four areas: Europe, Asia and Oceania, Africa, and the Americas and the Caribbean. This selection process involved several specific challenges: the Sports Challenge at Gachibowli Stadium, the Talent Challenge at Shilpakala Vedika, the Head-to-Head Challenge focusing on global issues, the Top Model Challenge, and the Beauty with Purpose presentations. These segments were designed to test intellectual ability, communication skills, and social service projects.

The final results saw Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand crowned by Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic. The runner-up positions were filled by Hasset Dereje of Ethiopia (first runner-up), Maja Klajda of Poland (second runner-up), and Aurélie Joachim of Martinique (third runner-up). The pageant also presented a Humanitarian Award to actor Sonu Sood, founder of the Sood Charity Foundation.

The road to the finale was marked by significant logistical shifts. Several countries, including Guinea-Bissau, Iraq, Liberia, Macau, Morocco, and Uruguay, withdrew because their national organizations failed to appoint delegates or retain the franchise. Conversely, several nations returned to the stage after long absences, including Suriname (last competed in 2012), North Macedonia (2015), Latvia and Zambia (2018), Kyrgyzstan (2019), and Albania, Armenia, and Equatorial Guinea (2021).
