In short: What began as a casual conversation between an entrepreneur and an economist about Italy's youth exodus has evolved into a formal political party. Born from a viral digital challenge, Ora! now operates through open-source collaboration, aiming to disrupt traditional political blocs with an extreme centre platform and data-driven governance.

The origins of Ora! trace back to a July 2024 YouTube livestream hosted by entrepreneur Alberto Forchielli and economist Michele Boldrin. Discussing reports that 525,000 young Italians had emigrated between 2008 and 2022, the pair lamented the lack of political engagement among the youth. Boldrin issued a spontaneous challenge: if 1,000 viewers emailed them within 15 days to volunteer for a new movement, they would proceed. The goal was surpassed overnight, and within two weeks, 9,100 people had signed up, leading to the creation of the Drin Drin association as a political incubator.

Ora! distinguishes itself through its digital-first infrastructure. Members coordinate via Discord across seventeen thematic groups, drafting position papers that form the party's manifesto. These documents are refined using GitHub, a platform typically reserved for software development, ensuring a transparent and collaborative amendment process. By May 2025, the association had grown to 13,000 members, with over half under the age of 40. This base participated in internal elections in July 2025, selecting 373 delegates to attend the founding Congress held in October 2025.

The party officially launched as Ora! Il Coraggio dell'Ovvio, electing Boldrin as secretary and Forchielli as president. The movement has since entered the electoral arena, positioning itself as an 'extreme centre' alternative to traditional coalitions. In the 2026 Venice municipal elections, Boldrin secured a seat on the city council with 3.44% of the vote. Meanwhile, the party has seen varied results in local contests, including a significant 70.31% victory for an Ora!-supported list in the Mortara runoff. As the party matures, it faces the typical challenges of political life, including internal shifts, such as the departure of Assembly member Alfredo Mangano to form a breakaway group in September 2026.
