In short: Ryan Bader didn't just climb the ranks of professional mixed martial arts; he rewrote the record books. By capturing two weight class championships at once, he achieved a feat of endurance and versatility that remains a singular milestone in the history of the Bellator MMA promotion.

Ryan Bader's path to the top was paved by a foundation in amateur wrestling. Starting at age seven in Reno, Nevada, Bader became a standout athlete, winning two Nevada state wrestling championships and ranking as high as fourth in the country. This grappling expertise served as the backbone of his transition into mixed martial arts, eventually leading him to a successful run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Bader's career is defined by significant milestones and high-stakes transitions. After winning a 'six-figure' contract following his debut on The Ultimate Fighter, he competed in the UFC from 2009 to 2016. During this period, he secured a notable victory over Keith Jardine at the UFC's Australian debut and faced elite competition including Jon Jones and Tito Ortiz. His tenure in the UFC concluded after a victory over Antônio Rogério Nogueira, leading him to sign a six-fight deal with Bellator MMA in 2017.

In Bellator, Bader achieved historic status. He first captured the Light Heavyweight championship by defeating Phil Davis in a rematch in 2017. On January 26, 2019, at Bellator 214, Bader defeated Fedor Emelianenko via knockout just 35 seconds into the first round to claim the vacant Heavyweight World Championship. This victory made him the first fighter in Bellator history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously. While he later lost his light heavyweight title to Vadim Nemkov in 2020, his record includes the longest continuous winning streak of any Bellator Champion.

Beyond the cage, Bader has expanded his reach into the mainstream, appearing as a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter and transitioning into acting. He is set to portray MMA fighter Mark Coleman in the 2025 film The Smashing Machine, showcasing a career that spans from high school wrestling titles to international championship gold.
