The Voice enters its thirtieth season with major format changes and new coaching talent
In short: As The Voice reaches its thirtieth milestone, the long-running American reality series introduces significant structural shifts. With Carson Daly hosting his final season and a fresh coaching lineup featuring debutants Riley Green and Queen Latifah, the competition evolves with new mechanics designed to heighten the stakes for aspiring artists.
Season 30 of The Voice, which premiered on September 21, 2026, marks a transitional moment for the franchise. Host Carson Daly is set to conclude his thirty-season tenure, with Keke Palmer slated to take over in the following season. The coaching panel sees the return of veterans Adam Levine, appearing for his nineteenth season, and Kelly Clarkson, for her eleventh. They are joined by newcomers Riley Green and Queen Latifah, representing the first time since season 26 that two coaches have debuted simultaneously.
The competition format has undergone a radical overhaul. The traditional knockout rounds have been eliminated, replaced by a new phase called Cut Week. This change introduces the largest elimination round in the show's history, where coaches send two artists directly to the live shows while the remaining contestants fight for the final spot. Additionally, the blind auditions now feature a First-In button, allowing a coach to secure an artist immediately if they are the first to turn their chair. Each coach is limited to using this feature once during the round.
The production has also integrated digital engagement into the season's finale. In a nod to the show's longevity, the artist who accumulates the highest number of TikTok likes and shares will be honored as the TikTok artist of the season. By the conclusion of the blind auditions, each of the four coaches will have assembled a team of 12 artists, resulting in a total of 48 contestants moving forward to the battle rounds. These updates reflect a broader effort to modernize the viewing experience while maintaining the core appeal of the blind audition process.
