The final night launch of the American space shuttle era
In short: Watch as NASA prepares for STS-130, a mission that marks a pivotal transition in orbital construction and the end of an iconic flight era.
Set for departure at Kennedy Space Center on 7 February 2009, Endeavour's space shuttle flight aimed to finish adding the U.S. part of the International Space Station: a module named Tranquility. This addition provides essential life support systems and expanded living quarters for the crew.
The mission also includes the installation of the cupola, a unique structure featuring seven windows designed for panoramic views of Earth and celestial objects. Once these components are integrated, the orbiting laboratory will reach approximately 90 percent completion.
