Why astronauts spend their downtime exploring underground caves
In short: Watch five international astronauts navigate uncharted subterranean environments to sharpen the teamwork skills required for deep space exploration.
The CAVES mission serves as a high-stakes training ground where explorers from ESA, NASA, and other space agencies practice solving complex problems in isolated settings. By navigating underground systems, these astronauts learn to operate as a cohesive multicultural unit while strictly following established space protocols.
