New evidence of ancient Martian waves found by Curiosity

NASA's Curiosity rover has captured a panorama revealing rippled rock textures that suggest waves once stirred the sediment of a shallow Martian lake.

Since landing on Mars in 2012, the Curiosity rover has been investigating the foothills of Mount Sharp. In a feature called the 'Marker Band', the rover identified rock textures that provide the clearest evidence to date of ancient waves. The mission also identified debris from wet landslides further up the mountain, which the team intends to examine more closely later in 2023.
