A rare visual of two hurricanes racing across the Atlantic
In short: NASA footage from the International Space Station captures a striking meteorological phenomenon: two distinct hurricanes moving in tandem. This perspective offers a rare look at the scale and power of these storms from above.
Captured on September 14, 2010, the footage shows Hurricane Julia and Hurricane Igor traveling west-northwest across the Atlantic Ocean. While both storms were moving in the same general direction, they exhibited different intensities at the time of recording.
Hurricane Julia was a Category 1 storm with winds reaching approximately 75 miles per hour. In contrast, Hurricane Igor was significantly more powerful, maintaining a Category 4 status with winds of about 135 miles per hour.
