Witness the Atacama Desert's night sky in stunning Ultra High Definition clarity.

In 2014, a team of photographers traveled to Chile to document the night sky at three European Southern Observatory sites. This video showcases their journey through the arid Atacama Desert, capturing the cosmos in high-definition timelapses and imagery.

The expedition, led by ESO Photo ambassadors, aimed to bring the universe closer to viewers by capturing the unique landscape and celestial views of Chile. The project involved a collaborative effort from a team including Martin Kornmesser, Luis Calçada, and Herbert Zodet, among others.

The footage features contributions from photographers such as Yuri Beletsky, Christoph Malin, and Babak Tafreshi. By documenting the environment around these observatories, the team provides a rare, high-definition perspective on one of the world's most significant astronomical hubs.
