Preparing the ExoMars spacecraft for its journey to the Red Planet
In short: Watch the precise mechanical operations at the Baikonur cosmodrome as engineers prepare the ExoMars 2016 spacecraft for launch, including the release of its scaffolding and the tilting of the composite assembly.
This footage captures a critical stage of launch preparation at the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The video shows the scaffolding being released from the ExoMars 2016 spacecraft composite, which is mounted onto the conical launch vehicle adapter alongside the Breeze upper stage.
The assembly is tilted into a horizontal position to allow it to be enclosed within the launcher fairing. The Schiaparelli entry, descent, and landing demonstrator module sits atop the spacecraft stack, alongside the visible Trace Gas Orbiter.
