Preparing for liftoff: the final training for Expedition 38 and 39
In short: Before their journey to the International Space Station, the crew of the Soyuz TMA-11M spacecraft underwent critical qualification training in Russia. This video captures their final sessions and features an interview with NASA astronaut Suni Williams.
Between 15 and 18 October, personnel and alternates met at Russia's Star City, specifically the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre. The training was the final stage for the primary crew—Soyuz Commander Mikhail Tyurin (Roscosmos), Flight Engineer Rick Mastracchio (NASA), and Flight Engineer Koichi Wakata (JAXA)—ahead of their scheduled November 7 launch (Kazakh time) aboard the Soyuz TMA-11M.
