See Mars through the eyes of the Perseverance rover in stunning high-definition detail

Join NASA project scientist Ken Farley for a guided tour of the Jezero Crater. Using high-resolution imagery from the rover's Mastcam-Z instrument, this video explores the geological features of the Martian landscape, from ancient river deltas to volcanic rocks, captured from the rover's highest vantage point.

The video showcases a panoramic view of the Séítah region, featuring the crater rim, volcanic formations, and large boulders deposited by an ancient river. These geological remnants are of particular interest to researchers, as the ancient delta may contain preserved evidence of past life on Mars.

The imagery presented is an enhanced-color panorama created from data collected on Nov. 28, 2021. While the colors are exaggerated to help scientists distinguish between different rock types and surface materials, the actual Martian sky appears pinkish to the human eye rather than the blue tones seen in these processed images. The Perseverance rover has been exploring the surface since its arrival on Feb. 18, 2021.
