Building the backbone for a future quantum internet
In short: Explore how a coalition of elite research institutions is moving quantum networking from theory to reality. This look inside Fermilab's lab reveals the specific milestones achieved in teleportation and synchronization.
The AQNET-SD project features FQNET as one of its primary functional units. Quantum systems are enhanced through a joint effort involving Northwestern University, Caltech, Argonne, JPL, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by pooling their resources.
The collaboration has already produced 15 publications documenting significant technical breakthroughs. These include successful demonstrations of quantum teleportation, picosecond synchronization across different quantum nodes, and the development of high-rate entanglement sources.
