How a Madchester classic became a tribute to an astronaut
In short: Discover why the Oldham band Inspiral Carpets dedicated their song Saturn V to ESA astronaut Tim Peake ahead of his historic mission to the International Space Station.
The musical dedication honors Tim Peake before his five-month Principia mission, which launched on 15 December 2015. The band, formed in 1983 by Graham Lambert and Stephen Holt, was a key part of the Madchester scene that rose to prominence during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
