The final roll: Preparing a Soyuz for its journey to orbit
In short: Watch the heavy lifting and precision engineering required to move an ISS-bound spacecraft into position. This footage captures one of the final milestones before a crew departs for six months in space.
During the period of March 15-16, Kazakhstani authorities at Baikonur Cosmodrome transported a rocket and Soyuz craft to the launch site after joining them. This rollover is a critical late-stage activity preceding the scheduled launch on March 19.
The mission will transport NASA's Jeff Williams alongside Roscosmos crewmates Alexey Ovchinin and Oleg Skripochka. The trio is set to spend half a year aboard the International Space Station conducting research.
