A new crew ascends to the International Space Station

Watch the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carry the Axiom Mission 4 crew from Florida to orbit. This mission marks a significant journey for ESA project astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski as he heads to his new home in space.

Launched on 25 June from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the Ax-4 mission utilizes the Dragon spacecraft to transport a diverse international crew. The team includes commander Peggy Whitson (USA), pilot Shubhanshu Shukla (India), and mission specialists Tibor Kapu (Hungary) and Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski (ESA).

For Uznański-Wiśniewski, this flight follows his selection for the ESA astronaut reserve in November 2022 and his subsequent appointment as a project astronaut on 1 September 2023.
