Two astronauts perform a critical maintenance mission outside the International Space Station
In short: This video covers a high-stakes spacewalk conducted by NASA astronauts to upgrade the International Space Station. Watch as they perform delicate repairs and installations in the vacuum of space to ensure the station's continued functionality.
Jeff Williams, Expedition 48 Commander, and Flight Engineer Kate Rubins departed the International Space Station on September 1 for their second EVA within a 13-day period. This mission involved retracting a thermal radiator, tightening bolts on a solar array rotation joint, and installing an enhanced high-definition camera on the station's truss.
The work follows a previous mission on August 19, where the pair installed the first International Docking Adapter. This new component is designed to facilitate future links between the station and new U.S. commercial crew vehicles.
