A decade of continuous human life in the stars
In short: NASA recently hosted a roundtable to reflect on ten years of uninterrupted human presence aboard the International Space Station. This milestone highlights a massive leap in international cooperation and scientific endurance.
Commemorating the date of 2 November 2000, the talk recalled the initial arrival of Yuri Gidzenko, Sergei Krikalev, and Bill Shepherd at the outpost. Since that launch, the orbiting complex has hosted 200 explorers and served as a hub for over 600 experiments.
The station's success is built on a global framework, with 15 different nations contributing hardware and modules. It represents a significant achievement in long-term space habitation and collaborative science.
