A new cargo mission to the International Space Station launches this August

NASA and Northrop Grumman are sending an uncrewed Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station. This mission carries critical supplies and a suite of scientific experiments designed to test how biological and mechanical systems function in microgravity.

The mission, scheduled for liftoff no earlier than 11:02 a.m. EDT on August 4, utilizes a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket departing from Space Launch Complex 40 in Florida. The cargo includes diverse research projects, ranging from water recovery technology to the production of blood and immune stem cells in space.

Researchers are also investigating the impact of spaceflight on engineered liver tissue and microorganism DNA. Beyond these technical tests, the mission supports educational outreach through live science demonstrations intended for students.
