The final preparations for a five-month journey to the International Space Station
In short: Before astronauts and cosmonauts reach orbit, they undergo rigorous pre-flight protocols. This video follows the Expedition 42/43 crew as they navigate the cultural and technical milestones of their final days on Earth.
On 6 November, a briefing before the launch occurred at Russia's Star City Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, featuring the team of ESA Flight Engineer Samantha Cristoforetti, NASA Flight Engineer Terry Virts, and Russian Soyuz Commander Anton Shkaplerov. Following the press event, the team toured iconic landmarks including Red Square and the Kremlin in Moscow.
The mission is set to begin on November 24, Kazakh time, via the Soyuz TMA-15M spacecraft. The crew will spend approximately five and a half months aboard the International Space Station, representing a collaborative effort between Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency.
