What happens to humans during 1.5 years of total isolation?

Science at Mars500: Final video from Diego and Romain · 6:10 · Video: European Space Agency, ESA · Watch at the source

In short: As the Mars500 mission nears its conclusion, crewmembers Diego and Romain reflect on the scientific experiments conducted during their long isolation in an interplanetary spacecraft mockup.

Starting in early June 2010, six men were isolated in a simulated spacecraft to mimic the challenges of a mission to Mars. Throughout the nearly 1.5-year experiment, the crew acted as subjects for a variety of scientific studies.

In this final video, the crew discusses the experiments they found most engaging and those they liked least, providing a firsthand perspective on the psychological and physiological realities of long-duration spaceflight simulation.
