A strategic shuffle in orbit to make room for supplies
In short: Watch how engineers executed a precise orbital relocation of the Soyuz TMA-19 spacecraft to facilitate an upcoming resupply mission.
On June 28, Expedition 24 flight engineers moved their primary spacecraft from its usual position at the aft end of the Zvezda Service Module. Fyodor Yurchikhin performed a manual docking to secure the Soyuz TMA-19 to the Rassvet module instead.
This maneuver was necessary to clear the aft port of the Zvezda module, preparing it for the arrival of an unpiloted Russian Progress resupply craft on July 2. The move highlights the constant logistical choreography required to manage life support and fuel in space.
