A traditional Kazakh welcome for returning Soyuz spacecraft crews
In short: This video captures the moment astronauts Samantha Cristoforetti, Terry Virts, and Anton Shkaplerov returned to Earth. It features the traditional Kazakh ceremony held for all crews returning via a Soyuz spacecraft.
On 11 June 2015, the crew of Soyuz TMA-15M touched down in the Kazakh steppe following a three-hour descent. The crew comprised Anton Shkaplerov, the Russian commander, alongside NASA's Terry Virts and ESA's Samantha Cristoforetti.
Upon their return, the crew participated in a customary Kazakh ceremony, a ritual performed for all astronauts arriving on a Soyuz spacecraft.
