The high-stakes final approval before a journey into orbit
In short: Watch the critical moments as astronauts prepare for departure. This video captures the formal State Commission meeting and press conference held at Baikonur, where the mission's launch is officially approved.
On 14 December 2015, at the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, ESA astronaut Tim Peake joined NASA's Tim Kopra and Russian commander Yuri Malenchenko for essential pre-launch protocols. These meetings serve as the final regulatory hurdle before a crew departs for the International Space Station. Following these approvals, the crew was scheduled to launch on 15 December at 11:03 GMT.
