What new scientific experiments are heading to the International Space Station?

The Science Onboard the Next ISS Supply Mission · 51:14 · Video: NASA · Watch at the source

In short: As the Cygnus supply spacecraft prepares for its CRS-6 mission, a new suite of investigations is set to explore everything from asteroid soil to space-based meteor observations.

Following a prelaunch briefing on March 21, details emerged regarding the scientific payload for the upcoming Orbital ATK Cygnus mission. The mission, launching atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket, includes studies on the properties of regolith—the 'soil' found on the moon, asteroids, and comets.

The cargo includes a next-gen mobile 3D printer, a test for an adhesive tool that activates upon command in orbit, and a tool built to perform the initial space-based analysis of chemical makeup in meteors hitting our atmosphere.
