A steppe landing marks the end of a long cosmic journey
In short: Watch the traditional homecoming ceremony for the crew of Expedition 24. This footage captures the moment three astronauts returned to Earth after months in orbit, transitioning from the isolation of space back to life on the ground.
Following their landing on the Kazakh steppe, Alexander Skvortsov, Tracy Caldwell Dyson, and Mikhail Kornienko were greeted with a formal ceremony in Karaganda on September 24. This traditional welcome served as the final milestone for the crew's mission. After the event, the Russian flight engineers returned to Russia, while Caldwell Dyson traveled back to Houston.
