A message from orbit to a city in mourning
In short: Watch as former astronaut Mark Kelly delivers a poignant tribute from space. This video captures a rare moment of orbital recognition for the first responders and community members who responded to the January 8 shopping plaza shootings.
During a special community event, STS-134 Commander Mark Kelly acknowledged the heroism displayed in Tucson following the tragic shooting that resulted in six deaths and 19 injuries. The footage highlights the personal connection of the tragedy, as Kelly's wife, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, was among those wounded.
