The 6.2 million mile journey of the Space Shuttle Discovery
In short: After two weeks in orbit, the Space Shuttle Discovery and its seven-person crew have returned to Earth. This video captures the successful landing at NASA's Kennedy Space Center following a complex mission to the International Space Station.
The STS-131 mission involved a massive logistics operation, transferring thousands of pounds of cargo and supplies from the orbiter to the International Space Station. The crew, led by Commander Alan Poindexter, also performed three spacewalks and installed external equipment on the station.
The mission concluded with a Tuesday morning landing in Florida, marking the end of a voyage spanning more than 6.2 million miles.
