A tour of the spacecraft that landed humans on the moon

What's inside of the Lunar Module? · 7:31 · Video: Jared Owen · Watch at the source

In short: Explore the interior of the Apollo Lunar Module. This video reveals how the spacecraft was structured for its mission and how its two distinct stages functioned during the lunar landing.

The Lunar Module was divided into an ascent stage and a descent stage, both of which traveled to the lunar surface. The ascent stage served as the astronauts' living quarters, containing the controls, two windows, a docking hatch, and the engine required to depart from the moon.

The descent stage functioned as the landing platform, housing fuel and oxidizer tanks in its central compartments. Its outer corners, known as quadrants, were used to store essential equipment, including water and oxygen tanks, a camera, scientific experiments, and the Lunar Roving Vehicle.
