In short: By defeating Taylor Fritz in straight sets, Jannik Sinner secured his second major title. His victory at the 2024 US Open marks a historic milestone, making him only the fourth man to win both hardcourt majors in a single calendar year.

The 2024 US Open men's singles final saw Jannik Sinner overcome Taylor Fritz with a scoreline of 6–3, 6–4, 7–5. This victory was significant not just for Sinner, who claimed his second major title, but for his place in tennis history. He became the fourth man to win both the Australian Open and the US Open in the same year, joining an elite group that includes Mats Wilander, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner's dominance in 2024 also highlights a shift in the sport's landscape. He was the first player to win his first two major singles titles within the same calendar year since Guillermo Vilas achieved the feat in 1977. This achievement stands in stark contrast to the tournament's earlier rounds, which saw the end of an era for some of the game's most dominant figures.

The tournament was notable for the absence of the 'Big Three' in the later stages. For the first time since 2002, none of the Big Three won a major title in a single year. Furthermore, this was the first major since the 2004 French Open where none of the Big Three reached the round of 16. This shift was punctuated by defending champion Novak Djokovic suffering his earliest US Open defeat since 2006, falling to Alexei Popyrin in the third round.

The tournament also featured significant American performances, with Taylor Fritz reaching the final—the first American man to do so at the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2006. Additionally, the event saw the final major appearance of former world No. 3 Dominic Thiem, who exited in the first round against Ben Shelton.
