In short: In the dark fantasy world of Vale Sangora, a peasant named Coen becomes a hybrid creature, shifting between human and vampire forms. With only thirty days to rescue his family from an ancient lord, players must navigate a non-linear narrative where every choice and action consumes precious, limited time.

Developed by the Polish studio Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker launched in September 2026 as a dark fantasy action role-playing game. The studio was founded in 2022 by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who previously directed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game serves as the debut title for the team, which expanded to 160 employees by April 2026. The project was supported by a 40 million dollar budget provided by NetEase.

The game is set in a gothic, fictional kingdom within the Carpathian Mountains. The antagonist, a vampire named Brencis, has seized control during a plague outbreak, offering a cure in exchange for a blood tax that often claims the lives of the weak. The protagonist, Coen, is transformed into a Dawnwalker—a hybrid who retains human traits by day and gains vampiric abilities at night. This dual nature allows for varied gameplay, with human form favoring peaceful interaction and swordplay, while the vampiric form provides agility and specialized combat, provided the player manages Coen's bloodlust.

Central to the experience is a thirty-day time limit. Unlike traditional games, time does not pass through exploration; instead, it advances only when the player completes major narrative quests or specific actions. This mechanic has sparked significant critical debate. Some reviewers praised the pressure as a brilliant way to make every decision feel consequential, while others found the constraint less restrictive than anticipated. Regardless of the debate, the game achieved commercial success, selling over one million copies in its first three days, and the studio has already begun development on a sequel.
