In short: After the Shadow Labyrinth destroys the world, Desir Herrman wakes up as a student at Hebrion Academy. Armed with memories of his failed timeline, he must now recruit his former allies and master his magic to rewrite history and avert the catastrophic explosion that claimed his world.

The story centers on the Shadow World, an alternate dimension that began eroding reality in the year 3626. To save humanity, individuals must conquer these dimensions. Desir Herrman, a skilled mage, was among the final six survivors who successfully defeated the boss Boromir Napolitan. However, the victory was pyrrhic; the boss's dying heart detonated, obliterating the world. Desir's survival is marked by a temporal anomaly: instead of dying, he is transported thirteen years into the past, returning to his days as an entrance examinee at the prestigious Hebrion Academy.

Armed with the knowledge of the future, Desir seeks to change the fate of his companions. His party includes Romantica Eru, a wind mage whose noble status is contested due to her commoner roots, and Pram Schneider, a talented swordsman who initially rejects his own skill. He also encounters Azest Kingscrown, the heir to the Hebrion throne and a formidable warrior who, in the original timeline, delivered the final strike against Napolitan. Unlike Desir, these companions lack any memory of the previous timeline, forcing him to navigate their relationships and development carefully to prepare them for the challenges ahead.

Originally a web novel by Usonan, the series was serialized on KakaoPage from September 2016 to August 2019. Its success led to a manhwa adaptation illustrated by Wookjakga, which began in May 2018. The franchise expanded into an anime television series produced by Arvo Animation, which premiered in October 2023. The narrative's structure—a protagonist leveraging future knowledge to alter a predetermined tragic outcome—has resonated across multiple formats, including a second season that premiered in October 2026. Through these adaptations, the story explores themes of agency, the weight of memory, and the possibility of redemption in the face of inevitable destruction.
