The oral traditions of the Druids left a historical void
In short: While modern fantasy paints Druids as mystical heroes, their true history was intentionally obscured. This documentary explores how their commitment to oral tradition shaped their legacy and what modern archaeology is revealing about their actual roles in Celtic society.
Because the Druids transmitted their knowledge exclusively through oral tradition, much of their specific beliefs and practices were lost to history. This lack of written records has allowed for significant mythologizing in Irish folklore and contemporary fiction.
Recent archaeological discoveries are now providing a clearer picture of their existence. The video examines these findings to distinguish between the legendary figures of myth and the historical reality of their societal roles.
