Artem Chigvintsev is the only professional dancer to win both Strictly and Dancing with the Stars

Artem Vladimirovich Chigvintsev was born on 12 June 1982 in Izhevsk, within the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. His professional journey began in earnest after he moved to the United States in 2003. Before achieving television fame, he was a cast member of the stage production Burn the Floor, performing on Broadway and in London's West End in 2009.
Chigvintsev joined the eighth series of the UK's Strictly Come Dancing in 2010. Partnered with actress Kara Tointon, he achieved immediate success, winning the competition in his first year. This victory placed him among a rare group of five professionals who secured the title during their debut season. Following this, he continued to compete in subsequent series, reaching the finals again in 2013 with Natalie Gumede.
In 2014, Chigvintsev transitioned to the American show Dancing with the Stars, starting as a member of the dance troupe before being promoted to a professional partner for season 19. His tenure on the show spanned many years and partners, including Lea Thompson, Patti LaBelle, and Nikki Bella. In 2020, during season 29, he partnered with Kaitlyn Bristowe to win the competition. This victory solidified his unique status as the only professional dancer to have won both the original UK version of Strictly Come Dancing and the American Dancing with the Stars.
His career has been marked by both high-profile successes and the unpredictable nature of reality television casting. He has navigated injuries, last-minute production changes, and various elimination formats, including double eliminations. Despite these challenges, his technical expertise in Latin dancing has remained a constant, allowing him to maintain a long-standing presence in the competitive ballroom circuit across two different continents.
