The secret to a long life of exploration and adventure
In short: Michael Palin sits down with legendary travel writer Jan Morris to discuss a life defined by global movement, literary achievement, and personal transformation.
Born James Morris, Jan first gained prominence as part of the team that scaled Mount Everest in 1953. Her subsequent career saw her reporting from Hong Kong and Japan for BBC Panorama, where she interviewed notable figures like Che Guevara.
The video explores how Morris transitioned into a celebrated author of city and country books during the 1960s. It also touches on her gender reassignment in 1972, documented in her autobiography Conundrum, to uncover the philosophy behind her enduring happiness.
