The high-stakes saga of spinning tops and cosmic fragments
In short: Beyond the spinning tops lies a sprawling epic of family secrets, dark organizations, and celestial fragments. From the pages of CoroCoro Comic to global television, the Metal Saga follows Bladers fighting to prevent the revival of a world-destroying god.
The saga began with Takafumi Adachi’s manga, serialized in Shoguscun's CoroCoro Comic from September 2008 to February 2012. This story, known in Japan as Metal Fight Beyblade, centers on Gingka Hagane, a Blader seeking to defeat the Dark Nebula. This villainous group is responsible for the presumed death of Gingka's father, Ryo Hagane, and the theft of the forbidden Bey, Lightning L-Drago.
The narrative expanded through four distinct seasons. The first, Metal Fusion, featured animation by Tatsunoko Production and introduced the rivalry between Gingka and Kyoya Tategami. The story eventually revealed that the mysterious masked Blader, Phoenix, was actually Ryo Hagane. The second season, Metal Masters, saw the formation of the Gan Gan Galaxy team to compete in the Beyblade World Championships, while facing the experimental 'Arrangements' of Dr. Ziggurat.
The stakes escalated in the third season, Metal Fury. Following the appearance of a Star Fragment that split into ten pieces, Bladers like Yuki and Johannes became central to the conflict. The mission was to prevent the revival of Nemesis, the God of Destruction, by locating the Legendary Bladers. This era saw the transformation of Beyblades, such as Gingka's move to Cosmic Pegasus, driven by mysterious celestial light.
While the anime was localized for North American audiences by Nelvana, the franchise's reach extended to video games like Metal Fight Beyblade DS, released in the US in November 2010. Despite the intense battles and cosmic threats, the series remains a cornerstone of the Beyblade legacy, transitioning from a monthly manga to a multi-season animated epic.
