From Disney sitcoms to complex drama, Corey Fogelmanis continues to evolve his acting career
In short: Born in California and raised in the world of local theater, Corey Fogelmanis transitioned from a recognizable face on Disney Channel to a versatile performer in horror films and poignant dramas. His journey reflects a deliberate shift toward nuanced storytelling that explores identity, vulnerability, and the complexities of modern adolescence.
Corey Fogelmanis first gained widespread recognition as the intelligent and eccentric Farkle Minkus on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, which aired from 2014 to 2017. This role established him as a fixture of teen television, but he soon pivoted toward more challenging material. His filmography expanded into the horror genre with projects like the 2019 thriller Ma, where he played Andy Hawkins, and the 2024 horror comedy Carved. These roles showcased his ability to navigate darker, more intense narratives beyond his early sitcom roots.
A significant turning point in his career occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Fogelmanis moved to New York City and took a hiatus from professional acting to focus on his education. During this period, he attended Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop and spent a semester at The New School. This time of reflection coincided with his personal evolution, as he came out as queer in 2020. Since then, he has taken on roles that resonate with his personal identity, most notably as Ben DeBacker in the 2024 film I Wish You All the Best, a character who navigates the challenges of being non-binary.
His recent work demonstrates a commitment to diverse storytelling. In the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys, he portrays Nathan Walter, a character dealing with both his identity as an openly gay musician and the medical reality of epilepsy. Beyond traditional acting, he has expanded into performance art and music-related media, including starring in a series of music videos for Conan Gray in 2025 and appearing as Juliet in a Romeo and Juliet–inspired performance at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards. As of 2025, Fogelmanis resides in Brooklyn, continuing to build a career that balances mainstream appeal with projects that demand emotional depth and artistic risk.
