The Disney Destiny brings the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the high seas
In short: As the seventh vessel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Destiny blends massive engineering with immersive storytelling. From a Wakanda-themed lobby to a suite inspired by Iron Man, this Wish-class ship represents a new era of themed travel, powered by cleaner fuel and advanced propulsion technology.
The Disney Destiny is the third vessel of the Wish class, a series of ships designed to be larger than the preceding Dream class. While the Destiny maintains an equivalent number of guest cabins, its gross tonnage reaches approximately 144,000, a notable increase over the 130,000 tons typical of the Dream-class ships. Built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, the vessel incorporates modern maritime advancements, including the adoption of liquefied natural gas as a lower-emission fuel and azimuthing podded propulsion, or Azipod, systems.
Development of the ship began with a formal order in July 2017, followed by keel laying in March 2023. After a construction period that saw the ship launched in August 2025 and completed in October, the Destiny officially entered service on November 20, 2025. The vessel is heavily defined by its integration of Marvel intellectual property. Guests can dine at the Worlds of Marvel restaurant, explore a lounge inspired by Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, and view a stern featuring Spider-Man. The ship’s lobby is themed to the nation of Wakanda, complete with a Black Panther statue.
Beyond its thematic elements, the ship utilizes a rotational dining system where guests move between three primary restaurants—1923, Worlds of Marvel, and Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King—while their servers remain constant to foster a personal connection. For adult passengers, the ship offers specialty dining at Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. Entertainment options are equally expansive, featuring the AquaMouse water coaster, which includes a unique short film starring Mickey and Minnie, and the Walt Disney Theatre, which hosts original live productions like Disney Hercules and Frozen.
