In short: Born in 1974, Hiten Tejwani rose to prominence as a staple of Hindi television, building a career defined by high-profile collaborations with producer Ekta Kapoor. From iconic roles in long-running soaps to reality television, his trajectory offers a window into the evolution of the Indian entertainment industry over three decades.
Hiten Tejwani, born into a Sindhi Hindu family on March 5, 1974, established himself as a versatile actor primarily within the Hindi television landscape. His career gained significant momentum through his frequent collaborations with producer Ekta Kapoor, appearing in early projects like Ghar Ek Mandir and Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii. However, it was his portrayal of Pratham Mittal in Kutumb and Karan Virani in the massive hit Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that cemented his status as a household name. These roles often paired him with his real-life wife, Gauri Pradhan, whom he married in 2004.
The actor's filmography reflects the shifting tides of Indian television. He successfully transitioned between romantic leads, such as Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and more complex characters like the antagonist Vicky Oberoi in Mukti Bandhan. His professional life has been marked by a consistent presence across major networks, including Sony TV, Star Plus, and Zee TV. By 2011, his performance as the lead in Pavitra Rishta earned him multiple award nominations, including recognition at the 11th Indian Telly Awards and the 12th Indian Television Academy Awards.
Beyond scripted drama, Tejwani has navigated the reality television circuit, notably participating in Bigg Boss 11 in 2017, where he remained for 11 weeks. His career has continued into the mid-2020s with roles in series like Swaran Ghar and a return to the character of Karan Virani in a 2025 spiritual sequel. Whether playing a doctor in Sri Lankan television or an inspector in Tantra, Tejwani's longevity is a testament to his adaptability in a competitive industry. His personal life, including his marriage and family with Pradhan, has often intersected with his professional journey, creating a public persona that resonates with a wide audience.
