In short: Born in Paramaribo and named after a Brazilian football legend, Jairzinho Rozenstruik evolved from a local kickboxing prospect into a global heavyweight force. After a prolific kickboxing career, he transitioned to mixed martial arts, eventually securing a world title in the Dirty Boxing promotion after a notable run in the UFC.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik, born in 1988, began his athletic journey in Suriname, playing football and basketball before discovering kickboxing at seventeen. His early training at the Rens Project gym in Paramaribo caught the attention of Michael Babb from Amsterdam’s Vos Gym. Under the guidance of coach Ivan Hippolyte, Rozenstruik built a formidable kickboxing record, winning 76 of his 85 matches, with 64 victories coming by way of knockout. This striking foundation proved essential when he transitioned to mixed martial arts in 2012, debuting with a victory in Vladivostok, Russia.

His ascent in the Ultimate Fighting Championship was marked by explosive power and rapid finishes. Rozenstruik holds the distinction of being the only fighter in UFC history to record three knockouts lasting 30 seconds or less. His 2019 victory over Alistair Overeem, which earned him Comeback of the Year honors, remains the latest finish in the history of the UFC heavyweight division at 4:56 of the fifth round. Conversely, his nine-second knockout of Allen Crowder stands as the second-fastest finish in the division's history. Despite these highlights, his tenure included high-profile losses to elite contenders like Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

Following his release from the UFC in February 2025, Rozenstruik pivoted to the Dirty Boxing promotion. In June 2025, he debuted with a technical knockout victory against Victor Cardoso. By August 2025, he reached a new milestone by defeating Rakim Cleveland to become the inaugural Dirty Boxing World Heavyweight Champion. This achievement added to a decorated career that includes multiple regional titles and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minister of Youth and Sports of Suriname. His path reflects a persistent evolution, moving from the regional circuits of his youth to the pinnacle of international combat sports, consistently relying on the striking prowess that defined his early years in the ring.
