From Urmia to the World Stage: The Rise of Kickboxer Bahram Rajabzadeh
In short: Born in Iran and representing Azerbaijan, Bahram Rajabzadeh has become a formidable force in the GLORY kickboxing organization. Since beginning his athletic journey at age seven, he has navigated high-stakes tournaments and title challenges across both light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, earning recognition for his aggressive, knockout-heavy fighting style.
Born on August 3, 1991, in Urmia, Iran, Bahram Rajabzadeh began his athletic training at the age of seven. His professional trajectory shifted significantly in December 2015 when he accepted an invitation from the Orion Sports Club to move to Azerbaijan. He has represented Azerbaijan internationally since 2016, the same year he secured the national kickboxing championship. His career is defined by a relentless pursuit of major titles, including his status as a WAKO world champion and his consistent presence in the GLORY promotion.
Rajabzadeh’s GLORY career, which began in 2019, has been marked by rapid movement between weight classes. In 2023, he demonstrated his versatility by winning a heavyweight qualification tournament, which earned him a spot in the year-end Heavyweight Grand Prix. His performance in these high-pressure environments often results in decisive finishes; he has secured multiple victories via knockout, including a notable first-round stoppage of Luis Tavares in May 2023. His technical prowess was further validated at the 2022 World Games, where he captured a gold medal in the -91 kg division.
Despite his successes, Rajabzadeh has faced significant hurdles in his quest for a GLORY championship. He has competed for the vacant Light Heavyweight title on multiple occasions, including a closely contested majority decision loss to Tarik Khbabez at Glory 104 in October 2025—a bout later recognized as the Fight of the Year. Injuries have also played a role in his career trajectory, forcing him to withdraw from high-profile title matches, such as his scheduled bout against Donovan Wisse at Glory 107. Nevertheless, his ability to remain a top-tier contender across two divisions underscores his endurance and technical adaptability in the elite kickboxing circuit.
