How a late start led to a record-breaking UFC career
In short: Jasmine Jasudavicius didn't enter mixed martial arts until 2016, meeting Chris Pickett by chance. Since then, the Canadian athlete has climbed the ranks to become a top-six flyweight, setting historic records for strike differentials and control time in the UFC.
Born in 1989 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Jasudavicius began her amateur fighting career in 2017, quickly securing a 4-0 amateur record. Her professional journey began in July 2019 with a submission victory over Brigid Chase. By 2021, a unanimous decision win at Dana White's Contender Series 39 earned her a prestigious UFC contract. Before her professional debut, she amassed an undefeated amateur record. Her transition to the professional ranks was marked by a successful rear-naked choke submission. This early success paved the way for her eventual entry into the UFC roster.
Jasudavicius has become a dominant force in the UFC women's flyweight division, characterized by her ability to control the pace of a fight. She holds the record for the highest control time percentage in the division at 45.4%. She also ranks second in total control time (1:01:51) and second in top position percentage (37.7%), trailing only Valentina Shevchenko and Gillian Robertson, respectively.
Her technical precision was highlighted in a January 2024 bout against Priscila Cachoeira, which set a new UFC record for the largest strike differential in a women's bout, with a margin of 326 to 26. This performance, along with victories over Ariane da Silva and Jéssica Andrade, earned her three Performance of the Night awards. As of October 2026, she is ranked #6 in the Meta UFC women's flyweight rankings. She has also achieved significant milestones in grappling, including the second-highest number of takedowns landed in the division. Additionally, she holds the third-highest top position time in the flyweight category. Her versatility is further evidenced by her ability to win via various submission techniques.
