In short: From airline branding to a crypto collapse, the Kaseya Center has survived a turbulent identity crisis. After a $135 million deal with FTX dissolved in bankruptcy, the Miami landmark underwent a rapid series of name changes before securing a new 17-year, $117.4 million agreement.

The arena's identity has been defined by the volatile economics of sports sponsorship. Originally opened in 1999 as the American Airlines Arena, it featured a giant aircraft painted on the roof to catch the eyes of travelers at Miami International Airport. However, the stability of the venue's name has been anything but permanent. Following American Airlines' decision not to renew in 2019, the arena transitioned through a series of identities, including FTX Arena, following a $135 million, 19-year deal that was terminated in January 2023 due to the FTX bankruptcy. The venue's previous branding was so prominent that it included a massive aircraft silhouette on the roof. This design was specifically intended to be visible to passengers landing at the nearby international airport.

The transition was rapid; after a brief three-month period as Miami-Dade Arena, the venue signed a 17-year, $117.4 million agreement with software company Kaseya in April 2023. According to the existing deal, most naming rights income goes to the county, whereas the Miami Heat get $2 million each year. This new partnership ensures the local government receives the bulk of the sponsorship revenue. This arrangement was established following the sudden termination of the previous sponsorship deal.

Beyond the branding, the venue remains a central pillar of Miami culture. It serves as the home for the NBA's Miami Heat and features the Pat Riley Court. The complex also houses The Waterfront Theater, Florida's largest indoor theater, which can seat up to 5,800 patrons for various productions. Whether hosting the NBA Finals or major musical acts, the arena remains a high-capacity hub, capable of seating up to 19,146 people for center-stage concert configurations. The facility also hosts diverse events ranging from professional wrestling to major boxing matches. Additionally, it serves as a venue for various prestigious awards ceremonies and international pageants.
