From the cockpit to reality television: the dual life of Peter Weber
In short: Peter Weber is known to millions as a reality television star, but his primary career remains in the skies. Balancing roles on major American dating shows with a professional life as an airline pilot, Weber represents a modern intersection of high-stakes television production and the rigorous demands of commercial aviation.
Born in 1991 in Fairfax, Virginia, Peter Christian Weber Jr. grew up in a family deeply connected to aviation. His father, Peter, is a former pilot, and his mother, Barbara, is a former flight attendant who held the title of Miss Illinois World in 1978. Weber followed in his father's footsteps, eventually becoming a commercial pilot. His professional journey began in 2015 with Compass Airlines, followed by a tenure at Delta Air Lines starting in 2018. By May 2021, he transitioned to his current role as a pilot for United Airlines, a career path he shares with his younger brother, Jack.
Weber's public profile expanded significantly in 2019 when he appeared as a contestant on the fifteenth season of The Bachelorette, where he placed third. His performance led to his selection as the lead for the twenty-fourth season of The Bachelor, an announcement made by host Chris Harrison during the reunion of Bachelor in Paradise. Beyond the dating franchise, Weber has continued to appear in reality competition formats, including the second season of Peacock's The Traitors in 2024 and the upcoming series Destination X, scheduled for 2025.
The intersection of his personal life and television career has often been a subject of public interest. Following his time on The Bachelor, Weber entered a high-profile relationship with fellow contestant Kelley Flanagan. Their relationship was marked by a public breakup on December 31, 2020, followed by a reconciliation in October 2022. While his television appearances have brought him fame, Weber’s background is rooted in diverse experiences, ranging from his youth as a child actor on Days of Our Lives to his participation in national rocketry competitions during his high school years at Oaks Christian School.
