The hidden tracks and secret requests of Oasis's definitive collection
In short: When Oasis released their comprehensive 1994–2009 retrospective, it wasn't just a list of hits. It was a curated archive of their UK singles, featuring tracks that had never touched a studio album and a specific secret requested by Noel Gallagher himself.
Released on June 14, 2010, by Big Brother Recordings, Time Flies... 1994–2009 serves as a comprehensive anthology of the English rock band's UK output. The compilation includes all 27 UK singles released by the group during that fifteen-year span. Significantly, the collection featured
The collection's architecture reveals the internal dynamics of the band. At the specific request of guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher, the song "Sunday Morning Call" was omitted from the album's artwork entirely. Instead, it was tucked away as a hidden track on the second disc. However, this specific inclusion was geographically dependent; due to time limitations, the version released in the United States and Canada did not include the hidden track.
The album's commercial footprint was significant, debuting at number 1 in the United Kingdom with first-week sales of 101,297 copies. It became the 900th album to reach the top of the UK Albums Chart. To date, it has been certified 8x platinum in the UK, moving over 2.4 million units. While it is a massive success, it remains the group's third best-selling UK album, trailing behind (What's the Story) Morning Glory? and Definitely Maybe.
Beyond the standard two-disc CD, the release was expanded into multiple formats, including a DVD featuring music videos and unreleased live versions of "Gas Panic!" and "Little by Little." It also saw a specialized iTunes Deluxe Edition, which featured exclusive live festival recordings from the London Roundhouse in July 2009. The project was recently remastered for Record Store Day in 2025.
