In short: In the drama Your Honor, a New Orleans judge faces an impossible choice after his son kills the child of a powerful crime boss in a hit-and-run. What begins as a plea for justice spirals into a dangerous web of lies, corruption, and fatal consequences that threaten to destroy everything.

Adapted from the Israeli series Kvodo, Your Honor stars Bryan Cranston as Michael Desiato, a judge whose life unravels after his teenage son, Adam, accidentally kills Rocco Baxter. When Michael discovers the victim is the son of mob kingpin Jimmy Baxter, he abandons his commitment to the law to protect his child. This decision forces Michael into a perilous game involving the Baxter crime family, corrupt police officers, and the Desire Gang, a drug cartel operating in the Lower Ninth Ward.

The series, which premiered on Showtime in December 2020, was initially ordered as a miniseries but returned for a second season in January 2023. While the first season focused on the immediate fallout of the accident and the framing of Kofi Jones for the crime, the second season follows Michael as he attempts to dismantle the mob while working as an undercover agent. The narrative explores themes of grief and the moral decay of a man willing to do anything for family.

Critical reception for the series was mixed, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 50% approval rating for the first season and 67% for the second. Despite this, the show found a new life as a sleeper hit on Netflix in 2024, particularly among viewers over 35 and minority audiences. Following this resurgence, discussions regarding a potential third season have emerged, though Cranston has suggested he might transition into a producer role rather than starring in future installments.
