In short: Before this 1972 adventure comedy, Terence Hill and Bud Spencer were best known for their Spaghetti Westerns. This film marked a pivotal departure, moving the duo into a modern setting as bush pilots in the Amazon. Yet, despite its commercial success, critics found the re-edited international version frustratingly incoherent.

Directed by Giuseppe Colizzi, the film follows Salud and Plata, two bush pilots who make a living by staging fake plane crashes to collect insurance money. Their luck runs out when they crash for real in the Amazon rainforest. There, they stumble upon a brutal mining operation run by the villainous Mr. Ears, who maintains his black-market monopoly through slave labor and intimidation. After discovering a large emerald, the duo finds themselves in a high-stakes battle for justice against the mine's owner.

The production was a massive undertaking, filmed in Colombia and featuring an extensive array of aircraft, including the Douglas DC-3, Boeing 727, and Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina. The original Italian cut, titled Più forte ragazzi!, ran for 120 minutes. However, in an attempt to reach a broader international audience, the film was re-edited down to 90 minutes and re-dubbed. This version was poorly received; film historian Howard Hughes criticized the resulting narrative as sluggish and incoherent.

Despite the mixed critical reception of the international cut, the film achieved notable recognition. It secured the Golden Screen award in Germany in 1973 and earned the Silver Ribbon for Best Score from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists that same year. While the film attempted to carry over the slapstick elements that defined the duo's 18-film partnership, some reviewers, such as Jim Craddock, noted that the transition to a modern, jungle-based setting failed to capture the same comedic magic found in their earlier Western roles.
